The Collections

Decorative Arts

The Courtauld also houses one of the most important collections of designs by leading artists of the Omega Workshops founded by Bloomsbury Group artist Roger Fry in the early 20th century.

Visitors to The Courtauld can also discover some of the arts of the Islamic world, with its fine collections of Iznik and Spanish lustre-ware ceramics and its metalwork objects from the Middle East. Formed by the Victorian collector Thomas Gambier-Parry, these collections contain masterpieces such as the exceptional gold and silver inlaid walletprobably made in Iran in the 14th century, and the celebrated bowl signed by the craftsman Mahmud the Kurd.
