The University of Warwick (Partner)
To complement the fabric evaluation carried out at The Courtauld Institute of Art, a partnership has been founded with Dr Wanda Lewis from the School of Engineering at The University of Warwick. Her research related to this project is the design of minimum-energy forms of fabric enclosures. The partnership has been founded through a joint interest in generating a computational form-finding and patterning module that will produce vivid pictorial representations of stress and deformation patterns in the tensioned fabric. Interestingly the patterning module will include a mathematical model for predicting physical properties of fabrics.

Heathcoat & Co. Ltd (Industrial Partner - The Courtauld Institute of Art)

Heathcoat & Co. Ltd are specialists in manufacturing polyester woven fabric for conservation. We shall collaborate with them to aid our decisions in the fabric design specification and to manufacture the prototype fabrics.

Carter & Son (Thatcham) Ltd (Industrial Partner - The University of Warwick)
Carter & Son Ltd specialise in manufacturing fabric structures. They will supply samples of architectural fabric to The university of Warwick and advise on the choice of structural form.

Designing for the 21st Century (Project Supporters)
Designing for the 21st Century has been founded by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to unite their mutual remit of design. This initiative has not only funded the project, but actively encourages communication and outreach of the research.
