We understand the need for our students to have a safe and secure place to live. Housing at The Courtauld includes historic Duchy House, newly refurbished for 2010, and a small number of rooms at University of London Intercollegiate Halls.

We are able to house about 80 students who apply for accommodation, where international and first-year BA students are given priority. Accommodation application forms will be available from the Academic Registry.

Study Abroad Students
Students who have been offered a place to study at the Courtauld for a full year will be able to apply for accommodation in Duchy House and University of London Intercollegiate Halls.  Students who are studying for one term only are not eligible for this accommodation.

DUCHY HOUSE

Duchy House The Courtauld's own recently refurbished residence, Duchy House, houses 64 students and is located about 50 metres from Somerset House. The residents of this accommodation are both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The accommodation offers single rooms, most with en suite bathroom facilities in addition to a common room, shared kitchen, laundry facilities and free Internet access.

How to apply:

A housing application form will be sent to all students who have firmly accepted a conditional or unconditional offer for a full-year (or longer) programme.  Rooms are allocated to the Duchy House and the Intercollegiate Halls simultaneously; we cannot offer a choice between the two unless there is a specific medical requirement or other special circumstances.

University of London Intercollegiate Halls

The Courtauld is allocated a small number of rooms in various halls, which are located in Bloomsbury, approximately 20 minutes' walk from Somerset House. Students who live in Intercollegiate Halls are housed with students from other University of London colleges, which is a great way to meet a diverse community of neighbours from a huge range of subjects. University of London halls are mostly catered (breakfast and dinner) and offer both single and shared accomodation. Laundry and some cooking facilities are available on site.

It is open from 09:30-17:30 Monday to Friday, excluding Tuesday when it opens at 10:30. You will need a password to access the housing list on the Web site, which may be obtained by request from the Academic Registry.

Private landlords sometimes notify The Courtauld of accommodation vacancies, which are displayed on the notice board next to the student pigeonholes near the refectory; howver, please be aware that we do not endorse these properties.
