ABOUT AHRC AWARDS

The Courtauld Institute of Art will manage a Block Grant of 104 Masters and Doctoral level studentships until 2013. These awards recognise our excellent record of achievement in postgraduate teaching and research degrees, and will ensure that The Courtauld Institute of Art will continue to attract and retain the very best postgraduate students. As such, the principal method we shall use to determine the allocation of these studentships will be academic excellence.

There are three schemes:

  • The Professional Preparation Master’s Scheme (PPM) provides support for students intending to proceed to a career in professional practice, who are undertaking a Master’s or Postgraduate Diploma course which will prepare them specifically for that professional practice.

  • The Research Preparation Master’s Scheme (RPM) provides support for students intending to proceed to doctoral study who are undertaking a Master’s course which will prepare them for doctoral study.  Students are expected to gain a Master’s qualification at the end of their AHRC award.

  • The Doctoral Awards Scheme (DAS) provides support for students undertaking doctoral study.
