Spanning the canon of art history, The Courtauld Gallery's celebrated collection of paintings ranges from the early Renaissance to the 20th century. The Gallery houses a splendid array of gothic and medieval paintings as well as Renaissance masterpieces by artists such as Cranach and Brueghel. Baroque highlights include an extensive display of iconic paintings by Rubens.
The Courtauld is best known for its Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including celebrated works by Monet, Manet, van Gogh, Gauguin, Degas and Cézanne. The displays extend into the 20th century with works by Modigliani, Matisse, Kandinsky and the Bloomsbury group, alongside masterpieces of German Expressionism and modern British art.
