The Courtauld Gallery is located in Somerset House, in the heart of London.


The Gallery is located at The Strand entrance of Somerset House.


The Gallery is well served by public transport and is within walking distance of many of the capital’s other major museums and attractions.


Due to extensive filming taking place in the area, please note that on Sunday 8 March The Courtauld Gallery will only be accessible from the Strand entrance. There will be no through access from any other Somerset House entrance points.  


Access from Temple Underground station is available via Arundel Street or west along Victoria Embankment turning north at Lancaster Place and east at the Strand.  Please note Surrey Street will be closed for most of the day. Disabled access will be available via Lancaster place.


We apologise if this causes any disturbance to your visit .


If you have pre-booked your tickets to The Courtauld Gallery and are late for your timeslot due to difficulties accessing the area, you will be admitted as soon as you arrive.

Buses stop directly outside Somerset House on the Strand.


The Courtauld Gallery can be easily accessed using Barclays Cycle Hire. Docking stations are available on the Strand. Find out more about the Barclays Hire Scheme.


Visitors to The Gallery are advise to arrive by public transport whenever possible. The nearest public car parks are at Drury Lane and the South Bank Centre.
