Our Scholarships Challenge
In the previous article, Professor Mignon
Nixon’s students
demonstrate the value of scholarships offered to aspiring students
at the Courtauld Institute. The Courtauld currently has £300,000
to offer each year in scholarships, benefiting on average over
30 students each year. This sum is made up of generous annual
donations from individuals, trusts and companies as well as
from important legacies. Donors recognise the importance of
scholarships to enable future generations of scholars of the
history of art to fulfill their potential.
The Courtauld’s aim is to increase its scholarship fund
to £800,000 per year, enabling us to support some 45%
of our postgraduate students through what is an important,
but often financially difficult period in their lives.
Scholarships News
We are delighted to announce that the Peter Jay
Sharp Foundation has increased its support to $75,000 a year for
the next three years. This generous gift will enable three American
students to attend the MA programme each year. The international
nature of the MA programme is one of its great strengths. The American
alumni body is growing, with former students now living and working
all over the USA.
How You Can Help
Naming a Scholarship The Courtauld
seeks scholarships for UK/EU and overseas students for the
academic years 2007/8 and 2008/9. We welcome single gifts from £3,000 to £20,000
which can support a range of scholarship options from support
of fees only, to a full overseas scholarship for one year.
Scholarships can be given as a lifetime gift, or through a
legacy gift and can be named in your own name or that of another
individual.
Michael Kitson Scholarship Fund If you would like to make a gift towards supporting scholarships, you can do so by contributing to the Michael Kitson Scholarship Fund with a gift of your choice. Whatever you can give to this fund will help a student.
How to Make a Gift please contact Kate Knight (Head of Individual Giving Programmes) who can talk you through the above options in more detail and provide you with a gift form. kate.knight@courtauld.ac.uk Tel: 020 7848 2194
