Scholarships – Fulfilling Potential
The
Courtauld Institute of Art’s former students succeed
in a range of careers in the visual arts, shaping how we see our
visual heritage and opening up access to the visual arts to scholars
and the general public alike. Many go on to manage our most famous
museums and galleries, or become curators, teachers and lecturers,
or conservators of some the world’s most precious works of
art. Supporting our students to fulfil their potential through
scholarships is crucial – and we all benefit.
We are enormously
grateful to all the individuals and trusts which make generous
gifts to support scholars. We welcome and thank new donors for
scholarships in the academic year 2006/7: leading law firm Gibson,
Dunn & Crutcher, and the Marshall Aid Commemoration
Commission – both supporting a US scholar; John Lyon’s
Charity supporting two scholars from London; and Ian Jones supporting
a UK student.
“It [my scholarship] has had a huge impact on my life
here. It would have been a real struggle to come up with the
fees, so has taken a lot of pressure off me and allowed me to
concentrate on my studies.” Polly Saltmarsh – Worshipful
Company of Painter-Stainers Scholar
How you can help
The Courtauld seeks supporters who would like to help young
students through scholarships. In particular the Courtauld seeks
scholarships for UK/EU students for academic year 2006/7 and 2007/8.
A gift of £3,000 will cover the fees of a scholar, and a
gift of £10,000 will support a full scholarship for one year.
Scholarships can be named in your own name, or in honour of another
individual.
To make a gift of a scholarship for 2006/7 kindly contact
us by Friday, 30 June prior to UK/EU scholarship allocation. If
you would like to discuss making a gift, either for 2006/7 or beyond
please contact Kate Knight (details below).
Call for support for the Michael Kitson Scholarship Fund
Each
year we aim to raise at least £6,000 in memory of Michael
Kitson to help students with their fees. This year’s scholarships
are supporting one MA and one PhD student. We are very grateful
to Michael’s many friends, colleagues and former students
who contribute each year to make up this sum. This year we have
already received a total of £2,000.
If you are a new donor
to the fund, please contact Kate Knight by email or telephone (details
below) with your full contact details and she will forward a Gift
Form for you to complete and return.
If
you are an existing donor, please send your cheque made payable
to ‘The Courtauld Institute of Art Fund’ (marked Michael
Kitson scholarship on the reverse) to Kate Knight, Development
Office, Courtauld Institute of Art, Strand, London WC2R 0RN.
