Anita Sganzerla recently completed her PhD at The Courtauld Institute of Art under the supervision of Dr Sheila McTighe. She previously received a BA in Media Studies from the Università Cattolica di Milano (2005), a Graduate Diploma (2008) and an MA (2009) from The Courtauld. Her doctoral thesis centres on a group of prints and paintings by the Genoese artist Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (1609-1664), with particular focus on the dialogue between invention and erudition in his works. Part of her research was carried out during the tenure of a Rome Scholarship at the British School at Rome (2012). Over the past few years she has also worked as a Print Room Assistant in the Courtauld Prints and Drawings Study Room. In 2011 she co-organised, together with Dr Chris Fischer, the display Drawing in Naples, 1550-1800 (The Courtauld Gallery).
