“The word ‘unique’ is probably amongst the most overused in our culture but The Courtauld has genuine claims to be viewed so. It opened my eyes to an expansive view of what art and its history could be. It demanded rigour and serious scholarship but the thing I treasure most from my time there – and which has informed so much of what I’ve done professionally since – is a guilt-free pleasure in the act of looking at works of art.”
Tim Marlow (Courtauld MA, 1988)
Director of Exhibitions at White Cube, writer and broadcaster
The Courtauld Institute of Art stands at the forefront of art history and conservation. It came into being through the enlightened initiative and gifts of a number of individuals including Samuel Courtauld. Now more than ever, The Courtauld is reliant on donors who recognise the far reaching impact of our teaching and research on the wider visual art world.
There are many ways that your gift can make a difference. We seek support for all aspects of our work including: important academic and curatorial posts, resources such as the libraries, student support including scholarships and travel, wider access to the study of art history through our public programmes, The Courtauld Gallery – its exhibitions and conservation of the collections.
The Courtauld offers a range of gift opportunities according to the interests of our supporters from Friends membership to making a major endowment gift. This site gives an overview of the many ways you can get involved and help through donating. Alternatively please also feel free to Contact Us with your questions or to discuss your gift intentions.
