The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK’s leading institution for teaching and research into the history of art and the conservation of paintings.  Based at Somerset House in the heart of London, it also incorporates The Courtauld Gallery, one of the world’s finest small museums.

Educated to degree level or equivalent with a postgraduate qualification in librarianship/information studies, you will be responsible for the cataloguing and classification of new items and special bequests together with management of the short loan collection and related & general library duties

You will have experience of cataloguing according to RDA/AACR2 and using the MARC21 format using an automated library system as well as of classifying in a library setting. Experience of subject indexing using LCSH and familiarity with VLEs and e-books are essential.

You will have excellent IT skills and be service orientated with excellent interpersonal skills.

You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and manage your own time and workload effectively. You will work one night a week in term time until 19:00.

Reading knowledge of at least one of French, German or Italian and a background or demonstrable interest in the academic study of art history are essential as are experience of user education and staffing an issue/enquiries point.
